Fundraiser: New Century Theatre Productions of ‘Girls Only’ & ‘Happy Days’

Have some fun and help Calliope Women’s Chorus at the same time by attending one of these comedies at the New Century Theatre, 615 Hennepin Avenue, Ste. 145, Minneapolis 612-455-9501.

Go to HennepinTheatreTrust.org and click on Events, scroll down to Girls Only or Happy Days and Buy Tickets. Select your date and seats. Type in promotion code: CHORUS. (Very important!) Then choose your ticket delivery system and enter payment information. A portion of each ticket sale using the promotion code will be donated to Calliope. Hope to see you there!

Runs February 27 through April 19, 2015 – Girls Only is an original comedy that celebrates the honor, truth, humor and silliness of being female. With a two-woman cast and audiences full of raucous, laughing ladies, the show is a unique examination of all things girly. Born out of the earnest and sweetly ridiculous writings the two authors discovered in their girlhood diaries, the Girls Only mix of sketch comedy, improvisation, audience participation, and hilarious songs and videos will remind you that underneath, women all have very funny and very charming feminine similarities. Warning: This show contains feminine subject matter including teenage diaries, breast feeding, tampons, shadow puppets, pantyhose, menstrual cycles, slumber parties, menopause and maxi pads.

Runs April 24 through May 17, 2015 – The New York Daily News wrote “If you like Grease you will love Happy Days. A power house, rock and roll trip down memory lane, Happy Days is not to be missed!” Take a trip back to the 1950s with the Cunninghams and their friends. Happy Days – A New Musical brings one of television’s best loved families to a new generation. When Arnold’s, the town’s number one hangout and malt shop, is in danger of being torn down, Richie, Potsie, Arthur “The Fonz” Fonzarelli and the rest of the gang team up to save it with a dance contest and a TV-worthy wrestling match. In a race against time, can The Fonz save the day? The television series’ original creator Garry Marshall wrote the book and the original Fonzie, Henry Winkler, served as the musical’s creative consultant. Happy Days features 21 songs by Oscar, Grammy and Golden Globe award-winning songwriter Paul Williams, including the series’ iconic theme song.
