We’re celebrating the 50 amazing soprano and alto voices that make up our choir by featuring Calliope members on our blog!
Allie Wigley | Soprano II
Length of time in Calliope: This is my fourth season.
Day job: Business analyst
My theme song is: “Run the World (Girls)” by Beyoncé
My favorite pastime (besides singing) is: Traveling and dogs. Find me a plane ticket, otherwise you better have a dog on hand.
The best movie ever made is: This is hard to narrow down to just one… so two of my favorites are “The Godfather” and “10 Things I Hate About You.” I have eclectic taste.
What gets me up in the morning is: If we’re going for the literal, my dog Ladybug. Her inner alarm clock is very accurate. Sometimes too accurate.
What I love most about singing with Calliope is: Singing—and music in general—takes a different kind of focus and practice than my day job. Actively doing both analytical and creative work keeps my brain happy. Plus, singing is just really fun!
What I’m most excited about this season is: I’m excited about how the choir is evolving. The group has grown a lot in both numbers and musicality over the past few years. We have really engaged members, and I’m excited about the direction the choir is taking. People should probably come to our concerts to see for themselves. ☺
