We’re celebrating the 50 amazing soprano and alto voices that make up our choir by featuring individual members on the Calliope blog! This week we’re introducing our new director, who just began her first season with us.
Krystal Stark | Director
Length of time with Calliope: Since September 2017.
Day job: I teach music in the Spring Lake Park School District.
My theme song is: “Fight Song” by Rachel Platten
My favorite pastime (besides singing) is: Crafting things, especially jewelry. I started making jewelry about 10 years ago and have over 200 pieces, about 95% of which I made.
The best movie ever made is: “12 Angry Men.” The dialogue and message of bringing justice is incredibly poignant in our current world political climate.
What gets me up in the morning is: Smiles from my two kids (ages 2 years and 3 months).
What I love most about singing with Calliope is: I love the chance to put a message of courage, perseverance, and social justice out in the community, not just for the audience, but for choir members as well. I am so excited to be part of an organization which gives voice to the voiceless.
What I’m most excited about this season is: Our first concert together! I’ve loved all the work we’ve done so far in rehearsals, and I can’t wait to put it all together.
